Slide: 1
(Jamie): “Did you know that even though Canada has a lot of freshwater, we’re not using it as efficiently as we should?”
(Alex): “Really? I thought we had more than enough water.”
Alex (boy) and Jamie (girl) sit on a bench near a river, watching the water flow.
Slide: 2
(Jamie): “Yeah, but many communities, especially in dry regions, face water shortages during the summer.”
(Alex): “Wow, I didn’t know. So what are we doing to fix that?”
The two friends sit by the river, seeing signs about water conservation.
Slide: 3
(Jamie): “Some cities are introducing better water management programs, like encouraging rainwater collection and reducing waste.”
(Alex): “That sounds like a good start.”
Water Management Program.
Jamie points to a sign about a new water management program.
Slide: 4
(Jamie): “That’s one way people can help reduce their water use, especially in urban areas.”
Rain Barrels
(Alex): “Look, they’re using rain barrels to water their plants instead of using tap water.”
Alex and Jamie stop by a local garden where rain barrels are installed.
Slide: 5
(Speaker/ Mayor): “To protect our water supply, we’re asking everyone to limit lawn watering to twice a week and fix any leaks at home.”
(Jamie): “These simple changes can really help during the hot months.”
The friends visit a town hall meeting discussing water restrictions during the summer.
Slide: 6
(Alex): “I guess we need to start being more mindful of how we use water, even if we think there’s plenty.”
(Jamie): “Exactly. Water management is about protecting what we have now, so it lasts for future generations.”
Alex and Jamie walk back toward the river, thinking about what they learned.
Slide: 7
(Jamie): “Small steps like these can make a big difference.”
(Alex): “It’s up to all of us to make sure Canada’s water is protected.”
