  • Miriam is born in 1953 in a town called San Miguel located in El Salvador. She is the eldest child of five and was the first person in her family to graduate college. Even though she grew up in a poor environment, she always wanted a stable future for herself and for her family.
  • CHAPTER 1
  • CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 1975
  • I have finally graduated college. I feel so proud of myself! Now I am excited to prepare for my dream job as a principal in the Capital of El Salvador, San Salvador.
  • Miriam and her boyfriend Jehovah met their senior year in college. After graduation they had planned on having a long distance relationship and to go on living in their different hometown cities.
  • Miriam, my Amor, I am so sad that we are going to be apart for so long. A long distance relationship is so hard since we live so far away.
  • It is going to be okay Jehovah!! Our love is unbreakable even though we will be apart. We must go off and live on our own to start our future. I will write you everyday I promise. Te amo siempre.
  • As Miriam was coming home from school, she felt excitement for her new independent life ahead of her.
  • Although I am living alone in my hometown, San Miguel I feel more free than I have in my entire life! I got my first job as a teacher and purchased a house all on my own
  • As Miriam was setting up her newly purchased house, she felt uneasy and her stomach was in an unusual amount of pain. She decided to go to the doctors to reassure that she was okay.
  • Maybe I should go to the doctors to see what is wrong with me. Hopefully it is nothing bad.
  • I don't feel very well. I really hope this ache is just a stomach flu.
  • Hello Miriam! There is nothing you need to worry about. You are pregnant!
  • WHAT?! How am I supposed to raise this baby on my own? What about my future, what is going to happen?
  • As Miriam got onto the bus home, her perspective quickly shifted as she thought of her future. Although she was pregnant, she still wanted to pursue her dream job as a principal in the capital. The problem was that she would be the only caretaker of the baby since Jehovah moved back to his home town. However, Miriam was strong minded and believed that God gifted her with a child to make her even stronger and more independent.
