  • One day, after Moses, who was a future prophet, was all grown up he went out to his people. Moses witnessed their forced labour. He looked upon an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his kinsfolk. He looked around to see if anyone was watching, when there wasn't anyone around, he killed the Egyptian. To cover up his wrong, he buried the body of the Egyptian in the sand.
  • The next day, Moses went out again. This time, he saw two Hebrews fighting each other. He spoke to the one who was wrong, asking why he fought with his fellow Hebrew. The Hebrew answered Moses, questioning him on who he would be too judge them. He then asked Moses if he would kill him like he did to the Egyptian the other day. This scared Moses, and he questioned in his mind if his actions had know become known.
  • Why do you strike your fellow Hebrew?
  • Surely the thing is known.
  • Who made you a ruler and judge over us? Do you mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?
  • When Pharaoh, whose daughter had raised Moses in the castle as a son, found out about what Moses had done he was angered. Pharaoh was so angry that he sought to kill Moses and sent people to carry out this act on Moses. But it wouldn't work, for Moses had fled Egypt in fear.
  • After fleeing to Midian, Moses settling and sat down by a well. A priest of Midian, named Reuel, had seven daughters who had come to the well to draw water for their fathers flock. However at the well some shepherds came and drove them away. Moses came to their defence and watered their flock. After they returned the girls told their father what happened. In return Reuel let him come to their house to break bread and gave Moses his daughter Zipporah in marriage. Later on they had a son and named him Gershom.
