- It all started with the Great Plains filled with over 30 million Buffalo.
- I am Black Kettle one of the tribe leaders. We have been hunting Buffalo for resources and living in the Great Plains for many years.
- Hello! We are both apart of the Cheyenne Tribe.
- After many years of Native Americans Tribes had been living out West Abraham Lincoln signed the Homestead Act.
- This created Americans to start expanding to the West and began taking sacred land from the Native Americans.
- Hello my name is Thomas. My family and I are on a 6 month long journey along the Oregon Trial to expand West.
- Hello. Abraham Lincoln the President of the United States signed the Homestead Act. This means we are here to take your land away from you for us to expand West.
- But this is our sacred land....
- Fast Forward six months
- There now was an Act just passed that we will be building railroads like this one from the East to the West of America. We need even more land
- This led to the Massacre of Sank Creek in 1864. This was one of many conflicts known as the Indian Wars.
