- In the story Billy (pictured in the blue shirt) who lives with his mom and sister in florida Wants to go visit his dad who he hasn't seen since he was a baby in Montana but his dad doesn't know he is coming to visit him.
- “If he doesn’t want to see me, I’ll come straight home. That’s a promise." (Chapter 1)
- Billy gets to Montana and meets Summer Chasing Hawks(Summer) And summers mom Little thunder sky, or lil for short. His dad is on a work trip and they found his truck with a bullet hole in the side. Once they get to the forest his dad who works with drones drops a letter to Billy
- Billy goes home after getting a note from his father that says he will come to Florida to visit. After a couple weeks his father finally comes to Florida. Billy finally figures out that his dad finds animal poachers and came to Florida because he was following a poacher named Lincoln Chumley Baxter lll. Lincoln was in Florida because he was hunting for a panther.
- Billy goes home after getting a note from his father that says he will come to Florida to visit. After a couple weeks his father finally comes to Florida.
- Billy's dad flew in Summer (with her new pink glasses) to help them find Lincoln before he poaches a panther.
- Through some help form Lincolns wife (who loves animals) they eventually get to the forest where Lincoln plans to shoot a panther. His dad successfully scares Lincoln with a drone. A car chase then proceeded which leads baxter to get away to Montana where he has decided he wants to hunt a grizzly bear.
- Billy and summer get mysteriously separated from their father and go back to the woods where Billy's dad gave him the note and found him tied up with a dead dear as bait for the bear. They catch up to Lincoln as before he gets to shooting the bear. Summer bear sprays Lincoln and scares away the bear while Billy unties his father.
- "Lincoln Baxter crumples to the ground screaming. The gun drops from his hands." (Chapter 21)
