In the 1800s, 2 German scientist discovered things that contributed to what we know as the cell theory. These scientist were Mathias Schleiden and Thedor Schwan.
.
The Cell Theory
Mathais Scheiden was botanist, he studied many different plants. In 1883, he had finally come to the conclusion that all of all of plants were made of cells.
Are we made of cells?
Wow, we are made of cells!
In 1839, Theodor Schwann the other German scientist who studied animals came to the same conclusion that all animals are made up of cells.
Yesss, all animals are made up of cells!!!
Those ants are smart!
After Schwann made his discovery, he reached out to Schleiden and they both started to work on the cell theory. But...they had a big disagreement as whether cells come from preexisting cells.
Oh come on, I just want my cheese!
No they don, they come from free-cell formation!!
Are you dumb, cells come from preexisting cells!!!
Whatever leave me alone!
In 1855, the argument between the 2 German scientist ended when another Scientist named Rudolph Virchow proved that cells did come from other cells.
Finally, I can eat in peace!
Rudolph actually got his information from Robert Remak without permission, which let to more problems.
Sorry my dear friend Schleiden, but my research shows that you are wrong!
Haha you see, I was right! Now go cry about it!
1.) All organisms are made up of one or more cells.2.) The Cell is the basic unit of structure and organization in organisms.3.) All cells come from preexisting cells.
