- How do people come to have different views of society?
- Virginia Woolfe's short fictional story, "Shakespeare's sister" depicts gender discrimination and the inequality that exists towards women in society.
- Patience Agbabi uses poetic language in her remix of "The prologue from the Canterbury Tales" expose the societal corruption that still exists today.Through a poetry slam, she continues Chaucer's satire as unfinished business indicating that corruption is still prevalent in society.
- In Jamaica Kincaid's personal essay, titled "On seeing England for the first time " social focus is the power and propaganda and the point of view is that she gives us insights into the true nature. The narrator grows up learning about England and how great they made it seem. In the poem, "XXII Midsummer" written by Derek Walcott it's discussing the aftermath of the riots. The point of view is the narrator is witnessing the aftermath of Britain. He discusses the racism and how minorities can be lead to riots.
- In Geoffrey Chaucer's The Prologue from the Canterbury Tales, the social focus is on the religious corruption in this medieval period.
