  • The French and the British were the biggest empires in the world. They were very competitive and they have both colonized North America. They both wanted a region called the Ohio River Valley and did many things to attempt to keep the land. What other events in history can you compare this to?
  • The Native Americans are a huge deal in this. The different tribes have taken the sides of different nations. The Algonquin and the Huron tribes sided with the French because the French were good to them. The Irquios sided with the British because they despised the Algonquin and the Huron. If you a native at the time, would you have still sided with one of the nations?
  • England's New Rules
  • In the early stages of the war, the French won most of the battles. This all changed when William Pitt, the English prime minister, decided to fund the war. Many of the battles were lead by the young George Washington and good and bad decisions were made. In the end, the British won and the treaty of Paris was signed. Why do you think the prime minister didn't help sooner?
  • King George declared that colonists could not settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. To force his new rule, to planned to keep 10,000 troops in America.
  • In 1763, a proclamation was made to remove a source of conflict with Native Americans. He also decided to keep colonists on the coast where the British could keep an eye on them.
  • This started the American Revolution. What other reasons do you think lead King George to not wanting to colonize past the appalachian mountains?
