  • Iván and his sister Salma are caught up in the mess of the riots against Fidel Castro and the Communist Government in Holguin, Cuba. Feeling a revolution up their sleeves, the siblings just want to get out. With the dangers arising, the two decide they need a plan.
  •
  • *pretend there's no land*
  • Once out of the mess, Iván suggests that they should escape. Like many Cubans at the time, they hoped to make it to the United States. This is a dangerous journey though, many not making it.
  • They decide to go for it. Wherever they go must be better than their life in Cuba. Without many supplies or a proper boat, the journey would be difficult, but they had hope.
  • Ready?
  • Yes.
  • At the beginning, everything went well. There were no storms, and the weather was warm and sunny. After a while though, they began to question their journey. Since the US is really close to Cuba, the journey should not take more than 4 days. After about a month, the weather took a turn, and they ran out of supplies.
  • You're right. This can't be good. We must've went the wrong way
  • We've been at sea for at least a week. Shouldn't we be there by now?
  • Hungry and alone, Salma passed out. Iván had no idea what to do. He screamed for help, but he was in the middle of the ocean, who would hear him? Thankfully, 4 days after this, Iván saw land. Salma had waken up as well. Once there, they asked for directions to find food. They found out they were in Argentina! They realized they went the wrong way but it was okay as long as they were safe.
  • Salma! Wake up! We made it to land!
  • Welcome to Argentina!
