- In elementary, I really had no clue what writing and reading were, even as I got older and started learning more about it no one took me under their wing and showed me what it was. It only showed me to be independent and start teaching myself.
- Middle school came around and I met Mrs. Garza, she opened my mind to many different types of genres of reading and writing. That year I learned how to write an expository essay and a persuasive essay, I also got into crime and mystery novels. As middle school continued I started reading at a freshmen level by the time I was in 7th grade.
- Unfortunatley all good things come to an end. HIGH SCHOOL Dun Dun Dun... My freshmen year was horrific, my English teacher didn't take anything seriously, especially since it was a testing year and counted towards my graduation plan. Most of what I learned in eighth grade was similar to what I was learning in that class so I went back to Mrs. Garza to help me.to make matters worst my teacher was fired halfway through the year.
- Blessing in disguise, My English 2 teacher would end up being my teacher for the next three years. Mr. Perez would play a big part into a passing my exams and getting into college essays and helping write recommendations for me. I learned different writing techniques from him, like Ethos, Pathos, Logos, and A.P.E.S. little did I know he would really make an impact on my life.
- Mr. Perez wasn't just an English teacher, he was a mentor, coach, father figure. He taught me tips and tricks to writing. something new and old, like having a thesis for an essay and making your strong points throughout the essay to get a good score.
- I'm not saying I am the perfect writer, but I like to think he is a big reason I'm here at UTRGV because he showed me so much. he helped me write and fix my two college essays for utrgv, I would've felt lost and dumb if it wasn't for his help.
- I like to think I am a creative writer because they have always guided me in the right direction, and have never let me fail. Thanks to them I feel confident enough to do anything with my writing.
