- Once upon a time, there was a first generation college student named Jane. She is super pumped about going to college, but because she is the first in her family to attend, there is a lot of pressure on her to succeed.

- I cannot wait to move in!
- I am so overwhelmed with everything I have to do to graduate! What if I'm still not prepared?
- Her only issue is, she has no idea what she wants to do. But thats exactly why she chose the University of Kentucky, so she can get the most out of her required courses and get credit for getting real world experience in different areas!
- Every week, Jane takes a field trip to get credit in the business core area, where she goes to a different locally owned small business and listens to the owners talk about what they do on a daily basis, allowing her to get a closer look into the field.

- This is amazing! Getting real world experience in all these different fields is so helpful!
- To fulfill her human sciences credit, she meets with university students in a doctoral program of her choice, in this case, a student earning her PhD in chemistry, and shadows her for 4 hours a week for the duration of the semester.
- There are so many different things I could do with a chemistry degree!
- After this year, I will feel so prepared to graduate!
- For her communications and social studies credit, she completes an internship for 2 semesters at the local courthouse, providing her with enough experience to fulfill 2 different core credits.
- Thanks to UK's core curriculum opportunities, Jane graduated in 4 years with plenty of experience and knowledge to decide how she wants to contribute to the workforce!
