- Come along on this journey, to witness a comic strip, made by Emma Kalthoff, from the scenes of "Almost Home," by Joan Bauer.

- Sugar and her mother, Reba, are being kicked out their house, due to the fact that they cannot keep up with the taxes. Everyone is extremely stressed out. They will have nowhere else to live because they don't have much money left. Reba told Sugar to wait outside, by the bench while she went into the food store to pick up a few things.
- Sugar heard a loud man yelling. She quicking looked at her surroundings, finding a man, a girl, seeming to be about her age, and a dog. The girl was crying.

- The girl Jenny was crying and looking around desperately. She ran over to Sugar.
