- Initial Incident
- The socialist meeting gets broken up by police who are trying to find Anna, who is wanted for treason. She manages to escape.
- The government must be democratic!
- I agree. The government is feeding us false information.
- Moritz meets Rebecca, who is a Jewish socialist, and they talk about how a democracy is good for Germany.
- Rising Action
- Germany is losing the war. We must overthrow the government.
- Hans comes home from the war missing his left arm which he lost in battle. This changes his perspective and makes him blame the Jews and Socialists for the loss of the war.
- If it wasn't for this war, my son would have his arm and everyone would be happy.
- If it wasn't for the Jews and Socialists...
- Climax
- Falling Action
- Hans gets into an argument with Moritz about the government and Hans decides to leave and live with another soldier that he met during the war.
- My family is a bunch of social democrats who speak anything but good about our government.
- Why must you treat everyone so poorly! We are just trying to help you!
- Conclusion
- Does this mean my family can live in peace?
- The emperor of Germany steps down from the throne and Germany becomes a democracy.
- The emperor has stepped down. We will become a democracy!
