- Marji’s faith is unshakeable to matter the consequences or change around the nation. Marji demonstrated around her hometown, she explains how after years a revolution is finally happening. “We demonstrated in the garden of our house. ‘Down with the king!’ ‘Down with the king’” (Satrapi, 11).
- Pride for Me
- Her mother questioned if she had cried and Marji decided to dismiss the question and lie to, in order to be able to continue going out on her own and listened to music to cope “To each his own way of calming down. ‘We’re the kids of America Whoao’” (Satrapi, 135).
- My Healthy Coping Skill
- Marji goes back home after a few months being homeless in Austria and finds herself unsettled by the newness of her old town. She decided to go out and see the town she left behind finiding herself unsettled by the new streets and names. “There were also the streets..Many had changed names. They were now called martyr what’s-his-name avenue or martyr something-or-other street. It was very unsettling” (Satrapi, 252).
- Reminiscing on my Past
- I protest yearly and participate in the parade and LGBT festival during June in order to express my identities and feel accepted.
- When I was younger and used to get upset, I would go to my room and listen to Bob Marely in my room by myself for hours. If I had not had that coping skill, I may have gotten myself into trouble struggling with emotions and feelings, as well as not developing the identity I have gained now from music being my expression.
- Don't worry..about a thing..every little thing is gonna be alright
- Anytime I go out to drive and end up aimlessly driving to Lawrence, It feels unfamiliar and overwhelming seeing all my old homes and the signs looking so different than I had remembered
