- Crane-man tells tree-ear why he lives there. Tree-ear lives there because his parents died of fever and is now living with crane-man.

- The emissary will be so mad, and mins going to be furious with me.
- There's nothing but a single shard left.
- Mins wife gave tree-ear more food in the bowl. Tree-ear went and took it home for crane-man.

- This was our sons but i would like you to have it.
- You want me to wear these , are you sure these were your sons.
- Tree ear is sleeping under some rocks and then he hears moving in the bushes. Then suddenly a fox appears Tree ear is so scared he backs into the rocks. He closes his eyes hoping that it wont attack and when he opened his eyes it was gone.

- Why would you come here without any work, its a waste of my time.
- Tree ear has failed in getting the vases to the capital. He thinks jumping to his death will solve his problems.
- Whats the point anymore they took the vases their all shattered!
- Mins wife offered Tree ear her dead sons clothes that were never worn. Tree ear was thankful that he got warm clothes from mins wife so he could stay warm.
- Tree ear is showing the Emissary the piece of pottery that he thought was the best to bring to him. The Emissary is disappointed that he didn't have much to show and thought it was a waste of time.
- my Honorable Emissary, i got robbed they threw the vases over the edge. I do still have a piece of the vase i would like you to see it.
