- 12. Well the first step is to produce recombinant antigenic protein in either yeast or bacteria. 13. Second is purifying the isolated antigen. 15. The antigen is then combined with adjuvants, stabilizers, and preservatives. 16. The general idea is that a tiny piece of the designated virus that won't harm you is used to create it. 17. A pretty cool process right?
