- Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari (c. 839–923 CE) was a highly influential Persian scholar, historian, and jurist known for his monumental works on Islamic history and Qur'anic exegesis.His most famous books are Tarikh al-Tabari (The History of Prophets and Kings), a comprehensive Islamic history, and Tafsir al-Tabari (The Exegesis of the Qur'an), a detailed commentary on the Qur'an. He was a prolific polymath who also made significant contributions to Islamic law, theology, and other fields.
