  • All of their efforts were trashed because the Albany Plan of Union never became anything. Colonial governments either rejected the plan, or they just didn't want to pursue it.

  • Have you heard about the Quartering Act?
  • What is that? Never heard of it.
  • They chose not to pursue the Albany Plan of Union because they wanted to receive their independence from Britain. They wanted the Albany Plan of Union to show the community that they same similar interests. Instead, they let their fears of losing their power stop them. This led to the Act's failure.

  • I think they are hiding something. These fundings are providing for another that they are not telling us.
  • After the French and Indian War, it became hard to get people to pay the prices for housing and provisioning the soldiers due to the lack of cooperation. The Quartering Act helped raise revenue for those causes.

  • Since the Quartering Act came out the same year the Stamp Act did, it was often overlooked and uncommon to some. It was overlooked because of the dramatic effects the Stamp Act brought with it.
  • The colonists were not happy with this act because they believed this was yet another way that Parliament was taxing them without their consent.  Some also believed that the money was being used to form a small army in America.
  • They are always trying to make us pay them more money! The taxes are already enough as is.
  • As a result, the colonists despised and hated the Quartering Act. It was not because they had to open their homes to soldiers, but because they had to pay taxes for the barracks and provisions of the soldiers.
