  • Theodore Roosevelt and conservation
  • Theodore really is the conservationist president
  • After he saw the decimation of the bison, and the eradication of elk, sheep, and deer he knew he had to change something
  • SO, once he became president he used his authority to create the United States Forest Service(USFS). He established 150 national forests, 51 bird reserves, 4 game preserves, and 5 nationa parks
  • By enabling the 1906 American Antiquities Act Theodore created 18 national monuments
  • During his presidency Theodore protected approximately 230 million acres of public land.150 acres of that is set aside for national forests.
  • Also because of him creating the Federal Bird Reserve they would later turn to national wildlife refuges
  • Theodore's legacy can be seen across the entire country. Six national parks are partly or gully dedicated to our conservationist president.
  • All this land we live on is all because of the things Theodore did for us. He protected us and gave us an amazing place to live. He was the first president who thought of us. hat means you should always be grateful to him.
