- Your pimples will go but it may take up to 6 weeks for them to disappear. I didn't want to tell you Leah but I've been noticing how bad your acne has been lately and I booked you and appointment with Dr. Stella for today.
- Honey what happened! Your face is covered in pimples.
- I don't know what I did wrong to deserve these pimples. Will my face stay like this forever?
- Mum why would you do that! I have a birthday party today. Plus my face isn't even that bad.
- I'm sorry to tell you Leah but it really is. The appointment is before the party too so after the appointment you can go to the party. I have already contacted your friends mum and informed her that you will be a but late to the party. Your appointment is in 20 minutes so we have go go now, ok.

- Hello Leah, I am doctor Stella. I am a dermatologist and I have found out that you are having some problems with something that we call acne.
- First Leah I want you to understand what acne is. Acne is developed when sebum which is an oily substance and / or dead skin clog your hair follicles and pores. This oil or dead skin trapped then creates little bumps on our body which we call pimples or when we have lots of pimples, acne.
- We can also have all types of pimples. We can have white heads which are bumps that remain closed by oily and dead skin , black heads which are open bumps on the skin that fill with excess oil and dead skin, papules which are small red or pink bumps that become inflamed or pustules which are pimples filled with puss.
- I also want you to know that it is okay to be getting pimples at your age too and that acne is completely normal for everyone. I would also like to give you some tips to keep your acne under control. It is very important for you to look after what you eat. Eating fast food, sugary food, greasy food, having too much gluten or too much dairy can cause you acne. Another extremely important thing for you to be doing everyday is to be washing your face twice a day to make sure your face as no bacteria on it, this means also avoiding touching your face throughout the day.
