- Birth control pills contain hormones that prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary). Also, the mucus in the cervix thickens, which makes it hard for sperm to enter the uterus and the lining of the uterus thins, making it less likely that a fertilized egg can attach to it.
- I understand your concern as a mother, but truthfully the pill is the best option for a young teen like your daughter. Additionally, you are promoting safe sex but it's mostly taken for her period cramps with an added bonus for a monthly contraceptive!
