Mayor has tasked us with researching the vaccine hesitancy for Zoonotic Virus at Springville. We have to decide on which method to use.
Introduction- Researchers discussing methods that can be used for their study.
Mixed Methods Advantages Comprehensive UnderstandingTriangulationFlexibility and Adaptability Enhanced Validity and Reliability
Prof. Zungu
Let`s use Quantitative study it will give us Precise, Objective, and Statistical Analysis of the vaccine hesitancy.
Let`s use Qualitative study, as it will help us with In-Depth Understanding, Contextualization and Real-World Applicability, so we can understand the vaccine hesitancy
Prof. Zwane
Let`s use Concurrent Triangulation Mixed Methods as these are the advantages of mixed methods.
Dr. Zondi
The research team finally decided on the method for their study.
We are racing against time, researchers we need to make a decision
Let`s do Concurrent Mixed Methods
The research team discussing on how they will collect and analyze data.
How will we collect and analyze our data ?
We will collect both Quantitative and Qualitative Data at the same time because we have limited amount of time to address the
Qualitative data will be gathered through semi-structed in-depth interviews with 30 EPWP workers who represent the entire community to get peoples perceptions on vaccination. I will also observe their attitudes..
We will collect Quantitative data by administering a questionnaire survey to 1000 community members who visit our local hospital. The two local clinics and three general practitioners.
For Data Analysis, we will utilize triangulation analysis to compare and contrast similarities and inconsistencies in our data
The researchers collecting data through focus groups
Benefits of focus groupsGathers people (6-10)Ask questions as a collective Explores complex concepts for individuals
It doesn`t make you sick
they help boost immune system and fight virus
As a group, please share with me why do you think vaccinations will assist in curbing the virus
Helps by recognizing the virus and fighting infections
Vaccines are meant to kills us, don`t let media brainwash you into vaccinating.
The researchers collecting data through observations
I have never been vaccinated before in my life and look at me I`m fine.
Vaccinate at your own risk
The researcher`s need to analyze social media and online forums to get insights on perceptions towards vaccines.
The research team conducting interviews
Miss Teller, please further explain why you believe vaccination is important?
We do not have the same immune system, I believe they help protect us from infections and boost our immune systems. I have been immunizing my children since from birth, this help them not to get all these newly emerging and re-emerging disease. Vaccinations provide life long immunity.
The researchers discussing Qualitative data.
The results look positive it appears that the community will receive the introduction of the vaccine well.
Great work team, now we will compare with quantitative results and see if there is a relationship.
Qualitative Study Design
All the participants that were interviewed by the qualitative team were given a survey to fill out after their interview, the patients that were also admitted for other illness around the same time were requested to fill in electronic surveys.
The research team analyzing Quantitative data
Quantitative Study DesignAnalytic study design-case control. Participants filled in survey on vaccine hesitancy. Tallied responses.
Great work, their responses will be tallied and we can construct graphs stating their likelihood to take a vaccine. The graph will display their responses side by side.
Prof. Zondo
The vaccine proved to be effective at fighting the Zoonotic Virus.
From the research we were able to understand the perceptions of the community of Springville and identify that they are hesitant, not refusing vaccines. From the final analysis we were able to conclude that hesitancy is mainly due to misinformation. There fore it is clear that we need to educate the community using proven facts and emphasis on the benefits of vaccines.
The conclusion
Qualitative findings we were able to conduct thematic analysis of vaccines perceptions
The quantitative data gave us the objective reflecting how many community members might hinder the success of the campaign.
Announcement- Researchers and Mayors representatives giving feedback to the community.
