BOTANIST'S LOGMy name is Dafne Boatanie, a NASA botanist. Earlier today, I got a message that an old friend, Captain Ellie Ellerby, of the NASA shuttle "Explorer" just returned so that I could examine something that her crew found. I can't wait to see her and to examine this alien matter!

I was looking forward to the away mission but lets just say that determining whether something was alive was not the only knowledge that my crew lacked. (We arrived on the planet via a nontraditional method of crash-landing, and escaping last second via parachute. )
Next time, when if I ask you if you know how to fly a plane, answer me honestly.
But, let's not dwell on the past. We came here to determine whether there is matter on this planet that is alive. So, everyone, look for life forms.
Ensign Joyce found a life form. Overjoyed, we immediately called another shuttle (this time with an experienced pilot) to come get us, the life form (in a bio containment chamber), and the parts of our destroyed shuttle. Once we were all aboard "Explorer" we began the journey back to NASA so that we could examine it alongside a botanist.
Has anyone found anything yet?
Wait, Captain Ellerby! I'm detecting matter but censors are still having trouble classifying it due to the atmospheric polaron bursts.
