- Mom, why am i still coughing?
- Jiaxin lived in Beijing, China, with his wife and son. The small family cared for one another. Jiaxin was an environmental activist who championed against air pollution in the country.
- One day, Jiaxin’s son is sick because of the air pollution in the city of Beijing. Jiaxin and his wife have tried to protect their son from the adverse effects of pollution by locking him in the house. However, he has developed a sickness due to the unpurified Beijing air.
- Outside, Jiaxin could see the smoke from factories rising into the sky like a big cloud of smoke. Jiaxin lost his father when he was 16 years old. The death made him determined to be an environmental activist because his father’s death was caused by air pollution in the capital.
- Jiaxin said goodbye to his wife and son. He then walked out of the house, got into his car, and joined other motorists headed to work in the foggy Beijing atmosphere.
- Jiaxin heads to work disappointed by the corrupt government officials who allow air pollution in Beijing, and he is determined to go public and name the rogue officials. As he drives to work, he sympathizes with the residents of Beijing because pollution has led to increased cases of respiratory diseases.
- Activists all over the world are faced with different challenges when championing their rights and those of other citizens, and Jiaxin is not an exception. Jiaxin and other environmental activists such as Zhang have faced intimidation from rogue government officials.
- Jiaxin receives a call from Zhang, who informs him that the media has reported about a scandal involving the corrupt state officials who had received a bribe to protect the people who are responsible for polluting the city’s environment.
- Jiaxin has fought for his father, son, and all the residents of Beijing. Environmental activists have won the war. The health status of the locals will improve because of reduced air pollution.
