- "Let me sleep my son"
- Someone get this old man out
- Elie had recently gotten surgery and was in great pain.  This was when they got news that the resistance was coming and they might kill off the sick or set them free.  Shlomo and Elie had to make a decision to stay or run with the others.  They made their hard decision and decided to run. 
- Once on the run of their lives, they saw people die and others get stomped over.  Once they finally got a break, they decided to sleep.  They knew sleeping in the snow was dangerous but they did it anyway but Shlomo and Elie took turns.  
- FREE AT LAST!
- Shlomo had gotten sick with dysentery throughout his run.  He had bad diarrhea when he got back.  He wasn't able to get up and go to the bathroom so his bed was filled with it.  The people that slept next to him would beat him because of how bad it smelled and he couldn't control himself.  
- Eventually Shlomo died.  Elie didn't know exactly when he had died but the next day he went to see his father and another Jew was laying in his bed.  Elie felt a feeling of relief but also felt guilty for it.  
- On April 11 the Russians came to the concentration camps and released the Jews.  After getting out, all Elie and the others could think about was food and not the act of revenge.  
- Right after getting out of the concentration camp Elie becomes sick with some sort of food poisoning.  He was fighting for his life for 2 weeks and once he finally got better, he had the opportunity to see himself in a mirror.  There is where he saw himself as a corpse.
