- Could you have a party for Sophie's birthday at your home?
- Sure, I can also make the dessert.
- Lily
- Sophie created a new club for moms and daughters. One thing that they have to do is homemade desserts. Every one knows how to bake except Lily. She is worried that her friends will find out that she can not bake. Things got even worse. Not only it is a book club but the name of the club is the baking bookworms .
- Lily, (the main character) is also in a band with her friends Abigail and Zola. The band name is The Dots. They practice every day that they are all available. Some days they can't meet because Zola has drum lessons or Abigail has guitar lessons. They practice in the recording studio that is Lily's dads.
- Happy birthday Sophie!
- Isabel invites Lily to her moms cupcake shop to talk. She mentions that Sophie's birthday is coming up soon. The decide that they are going to do a surprise party for Sophie. Isabel asks of they can have the party at Lily's house because Lily's house is a lot bigger than Isabel's apartment. Isabel said that they need to have someone make a dessert. Lily offers to make the dessert even though she can't bake.

- Lily get to go see Mr.Smiley (Her favorite chef) live in a real kitchen. She is chosen to go up and be Mr.Smiley's assistant. Mr.Smiley gave her his new cookbook after the show and told her that she can get better at baking and cooking. Lily still does not now what to make for Sophie's birthday.
- Lily finished making the desserts for Sophie's party. She decided to make cookies (Sophie's favorite dessert) and brownies (the cake-pops she was going to make broke apart last minute.) All of the people that are going to the party come over early to set up the decorations. When Sophie gets there she can not believe that her friends set up this party.
- At the end of the story the other band that was playing at the party(New Pirates) let The Dots borrow their instruments to play a song. They played a song that the band had wrote called "Wishing". Everyone was happy in the end. Lily made a good dessert, Sophie got a great party, and the band The Dots got to play at their first gig. Even though things started out rocky, they got smooth in the end.
