- Good morning, Marie. How did you sleep?
- I didn't sleep well at all. I was scared of the dark and my night light wasn't working. So I can't go to school because I didn't sleep well.
- But Chris is always mean to Tommy at school and they are not nice like God at all. Everyone there is mean.
- Oh, I am sorry about you did not sleep well but I am afraid you will have to go to school.
- I will try and make it work, have a good day.
- Okay, there is school and remember that Jesus is with you and in you no matter what.
- Okay Mommy. But will you have the nightlight working when I get home?
- Oh, Marie, what's wrong?
- Chris hit Tommy when the teacher was out and no one was doing anything about it. I wanted to but I was scared like I was last night in the dark.
- Yes, that makes sense. I think I can try to shine Jesus' nightlight.
- Yes
- Well, Jesus is like the nightlight of the world. He shines at school even when Tommy and Chris are being mean. But, Marie, you have to shine that nightlight so that everyone can see it because Jesus gave you His nightlight to shine. You understand?
- You know, Marie, it is okay to be scared but we can't let that stop us from doing what is right. You know how your nightlight makes it less scary during the night?
- Next day, after school
- Mommy! Mommy I did it! When Chris was mean to Tommy I told him to stop because it is not nice. I knew that I have Jesus' nightlight and so I wasn't afraid!
- I am so proud of you, Marie, and so is Jesus.
