- High schooler Kate Thomson is a social misfit who lives with her mother, twin sisters Meg and Princess, and precocious four year old brother Sandy Thomson. Although she has a high IQ. Kate gets poor grades at school, being bully by other students and frequently in trouble.
- Scene 23
- Mr. Thomson has been missing for months, following an attempt to tesser, by traveling through a wrinkle in the space time continuum.
- Scene 24
- Two creatures Mr. Whatsit and Mrs. Whatsit, take Kate and Kevin to several different planets by tessering. They show the children the evil force threatening Earth and bring them to the planet Camazotz, where the dark place has imprisoned Mr. Thomson.
- Scene 25
- Kate and Kevin found Mr. Thomson who is trapped by the dark place, reprsented on this planet by IT. Kate manages to free her father, but loses Kevin to the power of IT
- Kate returns to Camazotz alone uses her love for Kevin to break his connection with IT.
- I love you, Kevin!
- Kate and Kevin tesser safely home to Earth with their father.
