This is Ida Tarbell and she was an American Muckraker. She fought against the unfair business practices of John D Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company. The company tried to destroy competitors and gain total control over the industry.

When Ida Tarbell finally broke up the Standard Oil Company, in the 1911 Supreme Court decision, it impacted the company, and John D Rockefeller. She exposed the monopoly.
Ida Tarbell faced many obstacles while fighting for this cause. Some included sexism in journalism, difficulties gathering information, and personal and professional sacrifices.

Ida Tarbell passed away on January 6, 1944. Tarbell set a good example and changed the society. She brought awareness to monopolistic practices and inspired other journalists. Furthermore, she was a big part of the oil company being broken up.
