  • Starting population
  • Overproduction
  • Variation and Competition
  • The Ant species, Super ant, lives in a green backyard. The ants are eaten by hungry birds that has appeared from above them.
  • Adaptation
  • More larva ants which are known as baby ants,  are born than can survive in the backyard. There is not enough food or space for all of them to live. Some of the ants are always spotted by the birds and eaten as the scene is now daytime.
  • Differential Survival
  • Not all ants are green. Some ants are born with other colors. All of the ants on the backyard are competing to stay hidden from the birds and not get eaten
  • Differential Reproduction
  • The white colored ants really stand out in the green backyard. That makes them easy to spot from above. The green ants camouflaged into the green grass as they are not spotted by the birds unlike the white ants.
  • Because their color is an adaptation on the backyard, green ants are better at avoiding the birds. Green ants are eaten less often and survive longer due to them camouflaging into the grass which gives the green ants species a higher change of survival rate.
  •  Because most of those ants are green, they pass on their green color trait to their offspring. Therefore, a greater percentage of ants are green in the next generation unlike the white ants since they don't have much to reproduce due to the species dying.
