- As Holden gets ready to go to the lavender room,he thinks of calling his sister,Phoebe but he hestistates to do so becuas he deosn't want his parents to be the ones who pick up the call. This portrays the theme of loneliness by showing us that Holden is lonely because he desires for companionship,particularly his sister's but is scared that his parents will pick up the phoen and find out where he is.

- She'd wear white gloves and walk right between us, like a lady and all.
- Holden was still taking his decision about whether he would call Allie or not as he rembered a time in which him,Allie and Pheobe went to the park and he had companionship. He then took the decision not to call her so his parents don't pick up the phone. This shows us the theme of loneliness because Holden wanted his sister's companionship as well his his younger brother's when he rembered a precious time they had together,but now he feels isolated.

- After taking his decision to not call his sister,Phoebe,Holden geos to the Lavender room bar .However when he asks for beer,the waitress asks for a card that shows his actual age to make sure she's not serving alchohol to a minor. However,Holden tries to act like an adult so he can fit into the adult world.This shows us that Holden is lonely because he tries to seek validation from others by acting like an adult in order for him to be accepted into the adult world, because he is an isolated person.
