- Mr. White and Herbert were playing chess in their small parlour of Aburnam Villa. Mr. White made a big mistake thinking he could win. Herbert said Checkmate as he beat his father in chess.

- Mr. White hears a knock on the door and goes to answer it. Sergeant-Major Morris, he said, introducing him. They shook ands and went to the living room. Mr. White brings up the monkey paw and what it does. Sergeant throws it in the fire and tells him he must not use it and warns him of the concequences. Mr WHite gets the paw back and wished for 200 pounds.
- No... you cant use it the concequences are really bad!
- I wish for 200 pounds!
- Mrs. White sees a man walking back and fourth outfront their house. He looked very worried. The man was allowed inside and he was from Herberts work. I was supposed to call he said. Herbert got caught in the machinery and died. Our company was thinking on giving you a sum of compensation for the funeral, 200 pounds.
