- Objects in motion/at rest will stay in motion/at rest until acted upon by an unbalanced force.
- Ooh! Hey, pass me that ball! You'll be applying an unbalanced force to put it in motion, and then it won't be at rest anymore.
- Sure, but just make sure when you apply an unbalanced force to stop it, you use your hands and not your face.
- Newton's Second Law
- Ugh! How come you always win?
- The more mass an object has, the more force it takes for it to accelerate.
- That's not fair!
- NO!
- Oh yes it is. It's just one of Isaac Newton's laws of physics. Want to play again?
- Well, I am five years older than you, and I'm heavier, which means I have more mass. You have less mass than me, so it's easier for me to move you.
- Newton's Third Law
- Every action has its equal opposite reaction.
- Huh. How come when I pushed you, we both moved even though you didn't push me back?
- Wow, that's cool! But be careful you don't push too hard, or you'll fall!
- That's because whenever one thing pushes on another, the object being pushed pushes back, even if you can't see it.
