- When I was younger there were protests for BLM. A lot of times they would start peaceful and turn into unpeaceful protests just like Marji. If the protests didn't happen, more African Americans would still be treated poorly and unjustly. The events are similar because they are both protests that end in people dying for what they believe in.
- As a girl, Marji went to a political protest. As she is there she realizes it is very dangerous and the government is killing people for being there. This event opens her eyes to the government and how they treat there people. If she hadn't of gone, her eyes wouldn't have been opened to the cruelty of her government and how strong her people are.

- They're different than me
- When I was younger I moved schools. I, just like Marji, had to make new friends. It took a bit but I found some friends who were just like me. I didn't have to change to be with them, unlike Marji. If it hadn't of happened then I would have ended up like Marji, with friends I didn't really like.
- When Marji moves, She has trouble finding friends at her new school. Eventually she finds a group, but they aren't like her. They act different and have different beliefs. This forces Marji to change her appearance. If it didn't happen she wouldn't have changed and felt weird with her new friends.

- Can't believe I'm an adult!
- When Marji gets older and more rebellious, her parents send her to Austria for her safety. This symbolizes her starting adulthood. If she didn't go she would have gotten hurt or killed back in Iran.
- When I turned 18 I got a lot more freedoms. I could go out later and do more that I wanted to without checking in. It was my start of adulthood. If it hadn't of happened I would still have the restrictions of a child.
