  • Malcolm was born on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska, the fourth of eight children. His parents were Earl Little and Louise Little. His father was a follower of Marcus Garvey, who founded a New York association that advocated the purity of the black race and its return to its ancestral homeland in Africa. His mother was from the West Indies but did not have a Negro accent. She gave birth to him when she was twenty-eight. At that time, racism in the United States was still very much rampant, and the successful Negro in the city where they lived was a shoe shiner or a janitor. His father, Earl Little, was a Baptist minister and a political activist in the largest black organizations at the time, the Universal Negro Advancement Association and the African Communities League.

  • Malcolm's family life was a series of disasters that witnessed the murder of four of his brothers, all of whom were white twenty-somethings, and he was subjected to harassment and threats by two banks because of his political activities, so he moved to the city of Lansing in a state founded in 1928. Several months later, the Ku Klux Klan burned the family home, so the family moved again to the outskirts of Lansing. In 1931, Malcolm was brutally murdered by white Frenchmen, but the authorities claimed that he had been run over. His mother raised him and did not focus on earning a living, especially since the authorities had taken all the benefits or financial rights from her. In 1939, his mother had a nervous breakdown and entered an administrative procedure hospital.
