  • In "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" by Rod Serling, one of the main themes is to not jump to conclusions. One of the main themes is to not jump to conclusions. Firstly, one of the main themes is to not jump to conclusions because one of the examples that is on page 76 when everyone on Maple Street started to blame Les Goodman when his car started up. This shows that the people of Maple Street jumped to a conclusion when the smallest thing happened. Next, an example of the theme to not to jump to conclusions is when the people of Maple Street blamed Steve Brand for having a radio set on page 81. This shows that the people of Maple Street jumped to another conclusion for the stupidest reason. Lastly, the most important reason why the theme is to not jump to conclusions is because on page 82, Charlie assumed the figure he saw was a monster when it turned out to be Pete Van Horn. This shows that Charlie had jumped to a major conclusion and killed an innocent person. In conclusion, the main theme of "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" is don't jump to conclusions.
