Burning of Washington D.C.-On august 24, 1814 British forces marched into washing ton D.C and set fire to several key buildings including the White House and the Capitol. government officials, along with president James Madison has to evacuate the city.

This battle started on Sept. 13, 1814 at the U.S Ft. Mchenry near Baltimore. The American fort that guarded Baltimore harbor, was bombarded for 17 hours straight. On January 8, 1815, the British army invaded the city of New Orleans. Andrew Jackson assembled a last-minute militia that included Native Americans, pirates, freed African Americans, and ordinary citizens to defend the city. Jackson wind the battle and becomes a war hero.
