- Theseus, Duke of Athens, is to be married to Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. Their wedding preparation was interrupted by Egeus who wants his daughter Hermia to marry someone else even though Hermia loves Lysander

- Hermia and Lysander run away to the forest as Hermia is to be executed. Hermia tells her best friend Helena about her plan. Hermia trusted Helena with her secret but Helena tells Demetrius and they go and search for them in the forest.
- Puck the fairy sees all of the lovers in the woods and tries to solve the love triangle and accidentally makes Lysander fall in love with Helena. Whilst trying to fix this, Puck makes Demetrius fall in love with Helena as well, leaving Hermia alone.

- To try and solve the situation, Puck lures everyone (Helena, Hermia. Lysander and Demetrius) together and uses a love potion in Demetrius and Lysander's eyes
- Once they are all asleep, Puck puts the notion in their eyes and it fixes everything. Both Lysander and Demetrius are now in love with the right people.
