Storyboard Text

  • I wonder what powers these big energy plants.....
  • Well, there are many different energy sources, and I will show you!
  • The main source of energy in the US is using fossil fuels. They are prehistoric organisms that have been compressed and preserved over many years!
  • Wow! What are some examples?
  • Is that coal?
  • Yes. It is plentiful but dangerous to mine and releases a lot of CO2 when burned.
  • What is this?
  • That is oil. It is drilled under ground and is cleaner than coal, but less common.
  • This is a site for fracking natural gas. Natural Gas is the cleanest fossil fuel to burn, and more common than oil.
  • Isn't burning fossil fuels bad for the environment?
  • Yes. There are renewable energy sources on the rise like this waterwheel that are better for the environment.
  • Great! We should focus more on these energy sources!
