PRO-VACCINATION- QUALITATIVE RESEARCH APPROACHSeveral teenage girls from Lesedi township have been consulting at the local clinic presenting with symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases. While the diseases can be cured with antibiotics and practising safe sex (using condoms, abstinence), the complications from having such diseases can only become visible later in their adult years in a form of cervical cancer caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Therefore, there's an HPV vaccine available that can be administered to reduce the risk of developing cervical cancer. In those teenage girls that have consulted, about 10 of them haven't been vaccinated with the HPV vaccine despite it being rolled out in the schools for the past +/- 10 years.As a public health practitioner at the local clinic, I'll be conducting a Qualitative Research Study to gain understanding into why such vaccination has missed these teenage girls of Lesedi Township.
