- Oberon, the King of faires had sent Puck to the Green Forest to get a flower that is a "Love Potion", because Oberon wanted Titania to fall in love with a beast so that he can obtain the changeling boy from her

- "What you see when you awake, Fall in love with, by mistake! Love and suffer for his sake! Be it lynx, wild cat, or bear; Leopard, boar with bristly hair-Whatever to your eyes appears, When you awake, its sight endears. Wake when something nasty nears!"
- After Puck had given Oberon the flower, Oberon had gone to Titania and put the flower juice on her eyelids, and is making her fall in love with a beast to humiliate her

- Oberon had ordered Puck to put the juice on Demetrius's eyelids to make him fall in love with Helena, but Puck mistook Lysander as demetrius, He then ended up putting it on Lysanders eyelids instead
- "when you wake up, love forbids that you should ever close your lids. So waken after I have gone, for I must go to Oberon."
