- Propaganda is spreading information to cause people to act based on emotion instead of rationally. This word is significant because propaganda is how the Party gets people to follow them. By Orwell including the word propaganda, it helps us understand why the characters are following the Party and Big Brother.
- Big Brother is the leader of the Party and who everyone worships. Big Brother is significant because he is in charge of the dystopia. The word helps us understand how the people view the leader of the Party. They see him as their big brother, which is why they trust and worship him just like you would with your big brother.
- Vaporized is when the Party gets rid of you when no one is watching. The word vaporized is crucial because it would be one of Winston's consequences if he speaks out against Big Brother and the Party. The term is significant because it helps the reader understand why people don't speak out against the Party's wrongdoings.
