  • There are many different stories surrounding how the Roman empire came to be, but I can help you understand the true story.
  • VIRGILAENEID
  • If getting down beneath your feet is your desire, you will need to gather a few items first
  • I must get into the underworld! How may I go about doing so?
  • Yeah! Let his bones rest in peace.
  • This man deserves a proper burial. He fought as a brave soldier, and we owe it to him as Romans!
  • Roman propaganda all begins with Virgil's account of the origin story of Rome led by the founder Aeneas.
  • I need to grab this branch and get out of here.
  • It all begins with the founder of Rome, Aeneas. Hungry for adventure, he is prepared to enter the underworld, despite the fact that a Sibyl stands in his way, whom he must please in order to enter freely.
  • The River Styx consists of the crowd who are the unburied dead. My passengers are only those of the dead that are entombed.
  • I may not take any across the dreadful water until they are at rest.
  • While on his quest for the golden branch, Aeneas stumbles to find the body of Misenus, a soldier who fought beside Aeneas in battle.
  • Help us!! We don't deserve this!!!
  • After mourning Misneus' death, Aeneas and his followers set out to find the golden bough. Following the light of gold, Aeneas seized the branch and eagerly rushed back to Sibyl.
  • As soon as Aeneas had completed the tasks that the Sibyl had asked of him, he was down below among those who no longer remained with the living. He first meets with the grim boatman and it becomes clear to him that not all the spirits were at rest.
  • Charon is it? How do you get to decide who stays and who goes down with you?
  • In this part of the Aeneid, the different levels introduced in the underworld refers to the later idea of heaven and hell. As Aeneas travels on he ends up at the Elysian Fields, making once again a reference to heaven.
  • TROY STORY
  • As Virgil had referenced heaven, he also shadowed the idea of hell and specifically highlighted the consequences people face when making poor life decisions. Those who committed crimes and lived a sinful life were held up to it.
  • Shut it Greg you stole from charities...
