Always with that phone. Back in my day, we spoke to each other, not to screens.
It’s not just a phone, Dad. I’m checking internship applications, I am trying to make something of myself.

What good is it to chase your own ambitions while neglecting your family? Have you thought of what our family needs?
Uncle, the world is different now. Success outside can also bring honor to the family. Isn’t that what matters?

"When a person’s father is alive, observe his intentions. When the father is deceased, observe his actions. If he does not change from his father’s ways, he may be called filial." (Analects, 1:11)

“The noble person is conciliatory but not conformist; the small person is conformist but not conciliatory.” (Analects, 13:23) You can respect your father’s wishes while still finding your own balance.

I’m trying, Dad. I really am.
I see that. Just don’t forget where you come from.
Slide: 9
The balance between duty and desire is not a conflict to be won but a path to be walked. Perhaps this is where the true honor lies.
