  • 1. The Effects of The 7 Years War 
  • Pay up or we'll arrest you!
  • You must pay your taxes.
  • And without representation!
  • This isn't fair. We're overtaxed!
  • 2. The Proclamation of 1763
  • Get back to the colonies!
  • That wont stop me.
  • You can't settle here. Get out!
  • 3. The Stamp Act 
  • NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!
  • The 7 years war severely affected colonists. They were heavily taxed without representation in order to pay off the debt Britain was in after the war. This angered the colonists.
  • 4. The Boston Tea Party
  • No tax without representation!
  • The Proclamation of 1763 was issued by king George the 3rd. It was made to restrict colonists from settling westward of the Appalachians.Many colonists were angered by this and some even settled there anyway.
  • 6. The Declaration of Independence
  • We must separatefrom Britain!
  • Yes, we must! Let's make a declaration.
  • Part of the "intolerable acts" the Stamp act required that printed materials in the colonies had to be produced in Britain. "The Stamp" was essentially a tax that had to be paid for these goods. To Americans, this violated the "no taxation without representation" principle.
  • 7. The Battle of Yorktown
  • This gives me an idea..
  • Fear us and leave!
  • The Boston team party was a protest to the tea tax of 1773. Britain imposed the tax to grant the East India company a tea monopoly. Thus, more taxes had to be payed by Americans. In response, Americans disguised as natives Boarded a British ship and threw out a fortune in tea.
  • The tea! That's worth alot!
  • The Declaration of Independence declared the 13 colonies free from Britain in 1776. It also listed the colonists' objections against Britain. This also asserted their right to self government.
  • The Battle of Yorktown was the last major battle of the war. It resulted in a decisive victory for the Americans.The British were retreating and this essentially marked the end of the war (unofficially).
