The 7 years war severely affected colonists. They were heavily taxed without representation in order to pay off the debt Britain was in after the war. This angered the colonists.

Part of the "intolerable acts" the Stamp act required that printed materials in the colonies had to be produced in Britain. "The Stamp" was essentially a tax that had to be paid for these goods. To Americans, this violated the "no taxation without representation" principle.

The Battle of Yorktown was the last major battle of the war. It resulted in a decisive victory for the Americans.The British were retreating and this essentially marked the end of the war (unofficially).
