- Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett's work has shown me a more in-depth glimpse into the medical and healthcare side of biological studies. Since the most commonly envisioned careers in biological sciences are biologists, doctors, and zoologists, Corbett's work shows the diverse careers available within the research, technological, and design side of the biology world.
- For this reason, I found Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett's work in STEM relatable to relatable to my feelings and experiences with the field. I agree that the past racial disparities and discrimination faced by people of color in healthcare is an important topic to discuss and confront so that a fair and just system of medicine can be provided and distributed to these previously wronged communities.
- Corbett's knowledge of microbiology explores the organisms unable to be seen with the naked eye. Microscopic organisms like algae, fungi, bacteria, and viruses are analyzed by scientists to understand their structure, function, and classifications. Learning the inner workings of these microbes allows scientists to utilize them for genetic engineering, vaccines, food production, and more.
