Priest: Come buy Indulgences to get rid of your sins to the Lord for a price!
What a great way to spread the news...
We deserve to understand the Bible and after what the church did we have no reason to believe them and whatever comes out of their mouths!
Cause #1: The church was growing corrupt because priests were selling indulgences to the rich as a way for people to repent sins for their "good works", they did this as a way to fundraise money. These acts went on unquestioned for some time until Martin Luther had something to say about it!
Martin Luther: This is not right! Selling indulgences is false salvation!
I need a plan to let Europe know about this! That's right I'm going to create a Theses
Cause #2: The Printing Press, created by Johann Gutenberg, became a way for people to get important information out quicker to the public.
Cause #3: After the corruption of the church, people learned that the Bible is ultimate authority, and with that people wanted to read it for themselves, however people were not able to understand or interoperate the Bible for themselves because of the language barrier. The Bible was written in Latin.
Translate the Bible we say! Teach us the true meaning of the Bible! Not this phoniness we have been told out whole life!!!
Effect #1: Martin Luther wrote a list of arguments against church practices called the 'Ninety-Five Theses" and planned on letting the word out to Europe about what's going on. Eventually the word got out and Europe was divided.
Effect #2: The printing press allowed the growth and spread of religion throughout nearly all of Europe and even increased the total calls for church reform.
Wow, after reading about what the church has become to, I'm not even sure if I want to support the church anymore. I'm so glad I got this information fast
Effect #3: The people rallied together and demanded that the bible should be translated/taught in the local language which at the time was, Vernacular, so that people could understand the official authority of Christianity, which was the Bible. The people did not know if they could trust the church anymore.
