- To relieve the famine that the land of Thebes is struck by he goes to a blind prophet to find out who the murderer of the king is. The blind prophet accuses him of the murder In which he later seeks advice from Jocasta
- Theres is no need Oedipus!! do not chase after insignificant fairytale prophecies
- Oedipus tracks down the messenger who tells him that he gave him away to a shepherd. In desperation to find out the truth Oedipus hunts down the shepherd and pressures him for the truth.
- after the confrontation, he goes home where he discovers his dead wife and there he gouges his own eyes out. Creon is later crowned king and Oedipus leaves Thebes with his two daughters.
