  • CONFLICT

  • The narrator was introduced. He wished to prove his sanity despite having killed a man over his deformed eye
  • CLIMAX
  •  The narrator lived in the same building who had a deforming eye.The narrator said he was deformed, looking like a venture´s eye with a film covering it 
  • FALLING ACTION
  • Over the next eight days the narrator plots killing the old man to get rid of the "eye". Each night he enters the old man's room with a lantern until he sees the eye.
  • RESOLUTION
  • tic tic tic ( sound of heart beating)
  • What have I done?
  • Finally, one evening the old man woke up and screamed. The narrator pulled the old man off the bed and smothered him with his mattress until he could not hear the old man's heart beating.
  • Summoned by a neighbor, the police arrived, citing and someone reported a scream. Thenarrator tried to covered up by saying that it was him who screamed and thatthe old man was out of town.
  • The story ends when the narrator believes he hears a ticking noise that grows louder and louder. He believes that it is the sound of the old man’s heart and confesses to the police.
