- Duringlate November, near December, Jones was frightened because of the single-pilotjet that flew over the community twice. People were told to stop what they weredoing and ordered to go to the nearest building.
- The father was calling the baby by his name so he can grow faster, even though that is breaking the rules. The dad is sharing personal experiences because Jonas is nervous about the Twelve ceremony. At NINE children get a bike and could only ride at that age.#160;
- At the age of Eight, they take away your comfort object and recycle it to the younger children. Even though he had talk with his parents ,Jonas was still nervous about the Ceremony of twelve.
- Everyone IN#160;the community has dark eyes. Jonas, the baby, and a female have pale(light) eyes. It#160;was considered rude to point out peoples differences. The Mirror is not used in#160;this world. The Birthmother has very little honor in that assignment.
- Jonas was playing catch with Asher and suddenly in mid-air he saw the apple change. He#160;saw 4 more times but when he took it home he couldn’t see it change anymore
- The Eights, they started their first volunteer hour staying in groups of friends. They did there hours and recreation duties first. They had faced their first freedom of choice. Success couldn’t be mentioned comfortably without breaking the rule of bragging. Jonas had been looking for Asher's#160;bike and finally found it in the House of the Old.
